Carrot Stretches - Why, When & How

Something we’ve all heard of, and probably most of us have done - but do we know the best time to do them, and when we do them are we making sure that our horses are doing them correctly? In Summary: 🥕 Make sure you are doing them on warm muscles, preferably after exercise 🥕 Little and Often - like us going to the gym, form is more important! Start slow and gradually build up the distance 🥕 bodywork or passive movements are better for before exercise on cold muscles to activate the nervous system, and gives us more control over the horse to stop over strain or incorrect form 🥕 slow your horses down! Lots of them try to rush through the movement to get to the carrot, taking them inch by inch means they will get more out of the exercise - think yoga 🧘🏼‍♀️ 🥕 if your horse turns into a demon with food then trying the passive movements might get you better results (watch my other IGTV videos for some ideas!)
