NEW NZBus Metlink 100% Electric Bus trip. No.2 KARORI - SEATOUN | Wellington, New Zealand.

NZBus, operated on behalf of Metlink (Greater Wellington Regional Council), have a NEW FLEET of 100% electric single decker buses, which now operate on the No.2 Karori route, between Karori and Miramar/Seatoun (Routes 2M and 2S). Went for my first ride on one of these NEW single decker buses October 2, 2021. The largest operator which operates Wellington buses on the Metlink network, is Tranzurban Wellington, which received the first fleet of diesel and 100% electric double decker buses. Due to height restrictions of the Karori Tunnel and Seatoun Tunnel, the No.2 Karori bus route only operates single decker buses. The No.2 Karori route, like the No.1 Island Bay route, are both the busiest bus routes in Wellington City. However passenger congestion is eased on the No.1 route due to having double decker buses, the diesel double deckers which can carry over 100 passengers, and the electric double deckers which can carry 83 passengers. Karori, Miramar and Seatoun have put up with diesel buses for long enough. With Metlink receiving complaints from residents about the pollution since NZBus, which operates the No.2 bus route on behalf of Metlink, still have an old fleet of buses, including the yellow GoWellington buses from before the major bus network change in July 2018. This brings good news to these suburbs. I tend to do more No.1 and No.32X bus videos since I live in Island Bay (I love the double deckers). But I enjoyed the ride on these new NZBus single decker electric buses. No smoke. No crazy vibration of a diesel bus. No pollution. Please note NZBus/Metlink went crazy with sticking a trace app QR code sticker on every window seat of the bus. And since its single decker, its not as easy to film a window trip, unless I were the driver or on a double decker, of the front view. But its the experience of riding one of these new buses on the Karori/Seatoun/Miramar route that counts. The No.2 bus route is a high frequency bus route, running on a slightly higher frequency than the No.1 route, due to the No.2 route not having the double deckers. There only a few sources of information about the new NZBus electric single decker buses. Bus details can be found here: https://wellington.scoop.co.nz/?p=138558
