The SSS-bow reduces wind pressure and saves 5% fuel consumption under average sea conditions compared to conventional hull shapes, it's the world's first container carrier to be fitted with the technology. Natori, with a loading capacity of 538 TEU, is the biggest coastal container feeder in Japan and was delivered to Japanese domestic container operator Imoto Lines in December 2015. Natori is also designed to maximize container loading efficiency, crew comfort, and to reduce environmental impact. The bridge and accommodation area are integrated into the bow area, which minimizes the impact of noise and vibration from the engines & machinery located near the stern. The design also improves visibility. The ship also features a high efficiency propeller, fuel-saving paint, and a fuel oil piping system that prevents oil spills when bunkering.
