An NJSO tradition continues with a very special Lunar New Year Celebration Concert 中国新年联欢音乐会! This joyous program features new NJSO performances led by Music Director Xian Zhang 张弦 at NJPAC, plus at-home performances and highlights from our 2019 and 2020 Lunar New Year Celebrations. During the concert premiere, Xian 张弦 and NJSO violinist Wendy Chen 陈韵 provide live text commentary right here on YouTube! The concert features includes Eastern traditional favorites such as the Spring Festival Overture 春节序曲, “Purple Bamboo Tune” 江南丝竹曲-紫竹调, Fisherman’s Song at Eventide 渔舟唱晚 and “Gong Xi Gong Xi” 恭喜发财, united with Western classical favorites such as Tchaikovsky’s Andante cantabile for Cello and Orchestra and Piazzolla’s Libertango.
