GETTING SET UP FOR WAHOO FISHING THE RIGHT WAY HOW TO FISH A PLANER

In a recent video, we showed how my buddies took me out on Captain "Dolphin Bob's" boat - Reelaxation for my 44th birthday party with the intention of catching a wahoo - MY FIRST WAHOO. As an inshore fisherman, this species has evaded me for all my life and I really wanted to take the wahoo OFF THE BUCKET LIST! So I took my two 9/O reels over to RJ BOYLE'S STUDIO in Lighthouse Point, Florida to have them rig me up for planer fishing and to learn from the best! This was the most fruitful two hours I have spent in a tackle store in recent memory. The guys in RJ's shop not only rigged me up but gave me step-by-step instructions on how to use a planer to fish for wahoo. A few days later I took my 9/O reels rigged with wind-on leaders, a few planers and some bonito strips and we hit the water and did exactly what we were told. It took some time however, when that planer tripped and we got tight for the first time with a wahoo - pandemonium broke out on that boat and we all ate sashimi for the next few days!
