In November 2021, the directors of the LGBTQ+ Narratives in Academia storytelling project posted a call for volunteers from across Johns Hopkins University. We set out to collect personal narratives from students, staff, and faculty that explored themes of allyship, empowerment, and inclusivity as they relate to being LGBTQ+ within academia. Our goals include sparking conversations beyond the project that recognize and celebrate the diversity within queer communities, and to promote stories highlighting the strengths acquired through lived experiences that queer people can offer others as assets. Over 40 volunteers responded to serve as either storytellers and/or behind-the-scenes production team members. We launched our videos in July 2022. Here’s what some storytellers shared with us about… Video #1: Towards Allyship Video #2: Queer Empowerment Video #3: Inclusion at Hopkins For more information about programs at Johns Hopkins University highlighting LGBTQ+ experiences, visit: LGBTQ Life: https://studentaffairs.jhu.edu/lgbtq/ Office of Diversity and Inclusion: https://diversity.jhu.edu
