Terrain Tamer has produced a Landcruiser 70 Series Modified 5th Gear Set. This video demonstrates the fuel efficiency increase and reduced engine wear achieved after installation. In this one, they've changed the ratio which is going to allow for the Engine RPM to drop when you're on the open road at 100km an hour. It's pretty cool. Let's say you are in fourth gear at 110Km an hour the tachometer says 3000 RPM - end of fifth gear and the engine drops to 2100 RPM so 900 RPM dropped off the engine speed and you will still have got plenty of power to pull out an overtake. That's pretty nice. A common complaint with the 70 series Landcruiser is that the manufacturer before November 2016 is High Engine RPM at open road speeds like 100 kilometers an hour To reduce this the team at All Four x 4 Spares are offering a fifth gear conversion to the manual transmission This conversion allows for the engine RPM to drop approximately 20% at 100 kilometers an hour That's going to give you the advantage of better fuel economy, less engine noise coming into the cabin of the vehicle and longer engine life So if I was considering doing a whole heap of open Road touring I would Definitely be doing this conversion.
