Class 45 Peak 45118s First Raitour, 7 Class 14s on 1 Train & D345!

In this video we capture Class 45 Peak 45118 The Royal Artilleryman on its first railtour in preservation hauling The Diamond Jubilee Express , 7 Class 14 Teddy Bears on 1 train during the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway during their 14s@60 Gala & Class 40 Whistler D345 '40145' hauling the The Jolly Whistler 27th July 2024! We start the day in the Hope Valley at Grindleford where we capture the early running Class 40 D345 powering through the station just before the lengthly Totley Tunnel as the sun comes out as she heads from Burton-on-Trent to Skegness via Crewe & Manchester. After Grindleford we headed into Chesterfield to capture Class 45 Peak 45118 The Royal Artilleryman on her inaugural railtour from Bristol Temple Meads to York. This however didn't go 100% to plan with the tour leaving Chesterfield 23 mins early, as soon as we arrived she was approaching so a quick hand held shot had to do as there was no time to set up and unfortunately we couldn't get a second angle due to this but we were certainly lucky to get it in the first place. We see 45118 storming out of Chesterfield as she ventured northbound to York looking and sounding brilliant! After heading home for a few hours we headed south to the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway for their 14s@60 gala celebrating 60 years of the Class 14 Teddy Bears as we capture 7 of them on 1 train featuring: D9523 - Visiting from the Wensleydale Railway D9529 - Visiting from the Nene Valley Railway D9551 - Visiting from the Severn Valley Railway D9525 - From the home fleet dead in tow D9504 Jon Grimwood - Visiting from the Kent & East Sussex Railway D9553 - Visiting from the Caledonian Railway D9537 Eric - From the home fleet on her final weekend before withdrawal for overhaul With 8 coaches and Class 47 D1842 on the rear We start on the EVR at Hazelwood where we see D1842 bringing the train with just D9537, D9553 & D9504 on the rear as she powers away from a speed restriction. We then see the cavalcade on Teddy Bears heading out of Duffield making themselves very heard across the area with lots of thrash and tones... and we say tones it was A LOT of tones lol. We then return to Hazelwood to see the septuple header once again making a lot of noise with an unbelievable amount of tones as they made their way from Duffield to Wirksworth. A big credit must go to the EVR and all the railways that contributed to make such a sight happen! After the EVR we ventured into the most southerly part of Derbyshire at North Stafford Junction 'North Staffs Jn for short', just south of Derby and just north of Willington where both the 45 & 40 were suppose to pass through within 17 mins of each other, however this was not to be. We captured the Peak speeding southbound on the return leg of The Diamond Jubilee Express from York to Bristol Temple Meads making a very fine sight indeed just proving how spectacular Peaks are running 3 mins early putting in an excellent faultless performance after she failed the day before near Abergavenny in South Wales! What was meant to be a 17 min wait turned into a 1 hr & 46 min wait due to a points failure at Skegness, D345 would leave 68 mins late, passing us 87 mins late heading from Skegness to Crewe vice Manchester Piccadilly due to lane running with the Whistler unfortunately being shoved by rear gunner Class 37 37706 doing the lion share of work with 40 only seemingly on half power making me wonder whether there was an issue? If anyone knows if this is the case, feel free to let us know in the comments! But saying that, 37706 sounded great as who doesn't love 37s? We certainly love 37s and if that wasn't enough for you we have an extra bonus clip from 24th July 2024 with 37901 Mirrlees Pioneer after having just come out the paint shop in BR Railfreight grey livery looking and sounding fantastic as she storms through Alfreton putting on a brilliant display as she takes 7 Eastern Rail Services Mk3 coaches from Castle Donington EMDC to Scunthorpe BSC before picking up 3 more Mk3s to take to Great Yarmouth.
