Droplet and Brown Sugar two cute koalas in care at our Lismore Koala Hospital

These two cuties will hopefully be released in the near future. Droplet was rescued in January 2024 when he was separated from his mum. Brown Sugar was initially rescued with her mum, who sadly did not make it. Brown Sugar was admitted to Friends of the Koala, where she stayed in home care with Dale, one of our highly experienced koala carers until she was well enough for Koala Kindy. A couple of months ago, Brown Sugar headed off to plantation with some of the other joeys but on her return assessment showed signs of abdominal discomfort, low appetite and irregular scats. The decision was made to keep Brown Sugar in our Koala Care Centre until she was well enough and strong enough to try again and she is almost there! Droplet too was ready for release but developed a minor yeast infection and showed signs of abdominal pain. He has since gained weight and body condition and is clearly eating well. He too is ready to try for his wildlife adventures. Aren't these two young koalas just adorable?!
