Flow Behind Casing Quantification in Oil Producer Well

This case represents the comparison of standard wellbore oriented MPLT survey (spinner based) and Reservoir Flow Profiling (RFP). RFP is the acquisition of temperature in high resolution mode by HPT tool with subsequent numerical temperature modelling for quantitative evaluation of reservoir flow behind casing (source of flow from formation in bpd). The Spectral Noise Logging data reveals reservoir performance behind the casing below perforation zone and complements temperature-based modelled production profile. SNL also captured the upward leak off up to the top shale within formation behind casing. Quick outcomes: 1. MPLT (spinner based profile) shows 100% flow from perfs and there is an assumption that reservoir produce the same 100% from formation against the Zone 2 perfs. Fluctuation of temperature curve below zone 2 can’t be quantified into the profile in bpd in standard PLT job, just visual evaluation. 2. RFP shows major (80% from total flow) source of flow from formation below Zone 2. Only 20% of flow produced from formation against Zone 2 perfs. 3.
