Dentistry by John Barras DDS 1330 Post Oak Blvd #1300, Houston, TX 77056 (713) 993-9814 https://www.johnbarrasdds.com/houston... Transcript: Hi, I'm doctor John Barras, cosmetic dentist here in Houston, Texas and I'm here to talk about porcelain veneers. So, if a patient were gonna call my office, and come in and they're interested in veneers, I would have you come in, we would take photos, you would describe to me what exactly you want in size and shape, we would look at other photos, a catalog of teeth to get exactly what you like. We're also gonna look at the color of your existing teeth, we'll look at shade tabs of your existing teeth, and shade tabs of possible colors that you actually want. After that, then we'll take impressions of your teeth exactly how they are, and we send that to the lab so the lab can do a mock up on a model of the exact size and shape of the teeth that you want. What we're looking at is how many teeth that you show when we look in the photos as well, so that's what I'm telling the lab. whatever teeth that you're showing is what teeth that we're gonna recommend for the veneers. And from that point, the lab will send it back, and we have the exact teeth that are in your smile zone, and the exact siez and shape that you want. From that point, we're ready to move forward with the veneers, so we'll prepare the teeth, very minimal preparation needed for veneers. They're not like crowns. Veneers are about contact lens thin and they go over your existing enamel of your teeth, and once they're cemented and bonded on, the strength almost the same strength as your existing enamel, which makes them a very highly sought after restoration, because it can change the smile, and it can be super strong. So, once we prepare the teeth and you're in your temporaries and provisionals, then we'll send you home. You'll get a couple of days just to see that you like the size and shape of the temporary or provisionals, then once you like that, then we'll have you come in, we'll take photos. If we needed to tweak anything with how you wanted it to be done, we would do that, and take an impression and send that to the lab. At this point, the lab is ready to make your porcelain restorations to the exact size, shape, color, everything that you like. Then, you, they would send them back to us, the porcelain all individually done. We would cement them on exactly how you like them, and then you're ready to go. What important to note, that is I'm also a neuromuscular dentist. So, it's important to note that when I'm taking a look at your veneers, that I'm making sure that I'm putting them in the right position so that they last a long, long time. I went to continuing education another three to four years after dental school, so that I could just concentrate on the bite, and how it relates in form and function and aesthetic. So it's really important that we put the veneers in a good spot. That way they don't break, and they last a long time and your investment is taken care of.
