Under Lynn Townsend, Chrysler reached out to Simca of France, Barreiros of Spain, and Rootes in the UK- first buying a stake, then becoming majority shareholders, then taking over- they created their new overseas division: Chrysler Europe. But after just 15 years the whole thing had collapsed into ruin and had to be nearly given away. What happened?
