Is self-worth (or synonymously, self-esteem) really beneficial to our lives like people claim it to be? Personally, I cringe when people tell me to practice unconditional self-worth because it could help me with my life happiness. In this video, I talk about the self-esteem movement in the 80s, how the concept of self-esteem has morphed into "the sugar-coatings of pop psychology" (as Nathaniel Branden (the author of the book Six Pillars of Self-esteem) stated).
