Spreading 16 tons of lime to amend soil with very low ph. Our soil ph was 4.6-4.9, even after spreadinng over 3 tons per acre last year. This is sandy clay soil that was a mixed hardwood/pine forest 4 years ago. Break Heart Orchard is a small farm that we are carving out of previously forested land. We will be putting out videos on a weekly basis to document this journey as we build our own home and create our dream farm and Orchard Cidery.
