No, according to what Denis said, the peasants do not seem to know the consequences of their action because they have been unscrewing nuts from the rail track for years. 5. We know that it was not the first time because Denis admits that the whole villagers of Klimov had been unscrewing the nuts for many years. 6. The magistrate remarked that the previous year, a train went off track not far away from that place as a result of the nuts being removed.         Denis thinks that the magistrate was a learned man and should know about how things happen but he does not understand that it was a result of the actions of the people of Klimov. 7. when asked about the nut , he continues to tell the magistrate about the nuts in his house and where he found them and with whom he unscrewed simply because he was stupid.       It shows how ignorant he is about the working of the rail tracks and the consequences of his action. 8. No, Denis does not seem to expect to be punished because he was not apologetic in any way throughout the story. Even at the end, we fin him complaining, “Flog a man only if he deserves.” C, 1.           Denis Grigoryev is described as a tiny little peasant in striped shirt and patched trousers standing barefooted in front of the examining magistrate. He had a shaggy beard and unkempt hair that made him look like a spider. He had a poke marked face and a forbidding expression. He was a talkative little fellow who did not know the basic manners of talking or behaving before a magistrate. His whole world was the village Klimov and fishing.      He is also ignorant about the crime that he committed and does not think that he has done anything wrong. But it is obvious that he is a malefactor and needs to understand the seriousness of his crime because actions like that, if not checked, will cause damage to property and even lives. 2.          Judging by his ill mannered behaviour, any magistrate would be offended and would send him to prison, even if his crime was not very serious. Besides, it was not his first time that he committed the crime of unscrewing the nuts from the rail tracks.               But on the other hand, it was his first time to get caught in the act. Secondly, he was ignorant about the seriousness of his action. He was also unaware of the article 1081 of the code, which stated that whoever causes damage or injury to the rail tracks knowing that it could cause accidents would be severely punished. Thirdly, the whole village unscrewed nuts from the tracks so he did not think he was doing something wrong. So he should be excused with a warning and some lesson on how the rail track works. 3.               The Article 1081 of the code stated that ---"whoever intentionally commits an act of injury to a rail road whereby an accident might result to the train and who knows that such accidents might result shall be severely punished.”         The way they understood the statement was very different, because the magistrate understood that Denis intentionally unscrewed the nuts knowing that it was dangerous . But Denis felt that all those written articles are meant for the educated people like the magistrate and has nothing to do with what he did. 4.               Looking at how the world works today, yes. The poor does not get the justice they deserve. If Denis belonged to a richer class, the magistrate might consider putting more effort in explaining how serious the situation was. He might be even excused with a warning.           But as poor as Denis was, and as dumb and stupid as he was, he was sent to prison. To add to that, he was ill mannered who scoffed at the magistrate, talked recklessly without being respectful, he did not even bother to apologise, he was yawning in front of the magistrate. These ill manners make the poor and uneducated  very hard to be excused. #shortExplanation #english #class11 #simpleExpanation ‪@EKTAOPAI_Mhasi.Yhoshu‬ THE MALEFACTOR by Anton Chekhov | class11| english|ektaOpai| mhasisanuo yhoshu   / mhasisanuo.yhoshu   I'm on Instagram as mhasisanuo_yhoshu   / mhasisanuo_yhoshu
