RESPIRE - Working with and influencing policymakers in low- and middle-income countries

On 12 February 2024, the NIHR Global Health Research Unit on Respiratory Health (RESPIRE) at the Usher Institute, The University of Edinburgh, hosted an interactive discussion between Dr Zafar Mirza and Professor Sir Aziz Sheikh. This is a recording of the hybrid event. Title: Interactive Discussion with Dr Zafar Mirza: Working with and influencing policymakers in low- and middle-income countries Summary: Professor Sir Aziz Sheikh (Deputy Director of RESPIRE and Director of the Usher Institute) chairs a discussion with special guest Dr Zafar Mirza. Dr Mirza has an extensive background in stakeholder engagement, having held former roles as such State Minister for Health of Pakistan and Director of Health System Development at the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean Region. This event was supported by the UK National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) (Global Health Research Unit on Respiratory Health (RESPIRE); 16/136/109 and NIHR132826) using UK aid from the UK Government to support global health research. The views expressed in this publication are those of the author(s) and not necessarily those of the NIHR or the UK Government. The event was organised and delivered by Dr Dominique Balharry and Kitty Flynn with the support of Joanne Blair-Grey.
