Abandoned Hotel Ruins on Top of Echo Mountain | Popular Hiking Trail in Pasadena Altadena

On today's Los Angeles day trip, we went hiking to the abandoned hotel on top of Echo Mountain. Echo Mountain hike is one of the popular hikes / hiking trail in Pasadena. The top of Echo Mountain is very historic! This used to be a beautiful, fancy, Victorian-style hotel back in the 1900s and people used to take the railway from Pasadena to come up to the hotel. Nowadays, what's left of it is just the ruins but people come up here to enjoy the hike, the beautiful view, and the picnic area. A little info: It is free entry and free parking. There is no designated parking space, so you have to use the residential street parking. There is no restroom or restaurants on the way or at the top, so make sure to come here prepared! Echo Mountain is about 5 miles hike up and back with 1500 elevation gain. Lastly, this is called Echo Mountain because you can use the microphone / echo phone up there and your voice will echo throughout the mountains.
