EZ Flashcard Junior Boot & Noise Comparison: Unmodded vs Modded Game Boy Pocket & Game Boy Color

In this video, I demonstrate and compare the boot and noise behavior of the EZ Flashcard on three different Game Boy systems: • modded Game Boy Pocket (yellow, with 5V power regulator) • unmodded Game Boy Pocket (silver, with defect screen) • unmodded Game Boy Color (purple) As shown in the video, the 5V power regulator in the modded GBP (yellow) slightly reduces the maximum contrast and marginally increases audio noise, which is barely noticeable even at maximum volume, compared to the unmodded GBP (silver). Test 1: Boot Process without microSD Card All three devices successfully boot without issues when the cartridge lacks a microSD card, halting the flashcard's boot process. Test 2: Boot Process with microSD Card • Game Boy Color: No issues. • Modded Game Boy Pocket: No issues. • Unmodded Game Boy Pocket: A screen polarization (horizontal line) appears right before the logo, typically seen during shutdown, indicating a reboot, which is problematic. Test 3: Booting "Ninja Gaiden Shadow" from the Flashcard • Game Boy Color: No issues. • Modded Game Boy Pocket: No issues. • Unmodded Game Boy Pocket: Issues occur while navigating through folders to select and launch the game, leading to a reboot of the GBP. Data for microSD card ----------------------------------------- I used a 2GB microSD card (FAT) with the Firmware 5 Kernel 1.05e EZ Flashcard User Manual: https://archive.org/details/ez-flash-... I formatted the microSD card with SD Card Formatter 5.0.2 from Tuxera: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/form... I got the kernel here: http://mvshub.com/threads/ez-flash-ju...
