TallyLights For OBS

TallyLights For OBS Purchase: [email protected] Email: tallylights.com/contact/ Website: https://tallylights.com/ In this video, we will discuss how to set up Tally Lights for an OBS video production system. The process is simple and it will work for any Windows or Mac computer. OBS stands for Open Broadcaster Software and it is free and open source live streaming software available for Mac, PC and Linux computers. Tally Lights are lights designed to notify your on-camera talent when a specific camera is live. TallyLights.com currently offers a script you can use with OBS to assign Tally Lights to the specific cameras you are using in OBS. The TallyLights.com USB connected TallyLight system can power up to 8 tally lights by a simple USB 2.0 connection to your computer. Each Tally Light can be connected to the USB Tally Light controller via stereo 3.5mm cable. To get started, you can download the OBS software files you need at TallyLights.com. Unzip these files on your computer. Once ready, you can copy the files into the scripts folder of OBS. On a Windows computer, this folder is located at C:\Program Files\obs-studio\data\obs-plugins\frontend-tools\scripts. Make sure to copy all the files from your download into this folder. MAC Section If you are using a Mac computer, you can find the OBS app folder in the Finder window in the applications folder. Here you can right click the application while holding control and select “show package contents” and navigate to the Resources folder. Inside the Resources folder you will find “OBS Plugins” and inside this folder you will find “Frontend Tools.” Inside of Frontend Tools you will find a folder called “Scripts” where you can paste the Tally Light files. Once these files are in place you can open OBS and navigate to the Tools menu and select Scripts. In the Scripts window, you can click the “+” plus icon in the lower left corner to add a new script. When prompted select the “Tally-Lights.lua” file and click open. Here you will see all sources available in OBS and assign them a Tally Light number that corresponds to the tally light connected to your USB controller. Note: If you have recently added a Source and it is not displayed, click the Refresh button on the script to reload it. You can now associate your camera sources with the appropriate tally light connected to your USB Tally Light controller. You will notice that each tally light connection port is labeled and it may make sense to label your individual sources in OBS to match your desired tally light layout. As transitions are made using the OBS Studio application, the program will now communicate with the attached USB Tally Controller. If you are running OBS in Studio mode, both the Program (Red) and Preview (Green) lights will be used. But if the program is not in studio mode, only Program lights will be used.
