Should you buy the Kindle Paperwhite for $130 or Kindle Oasis for $250? Functionally they're almost identical, but there are a few key differences. First, the Oasis has a slightly bigger screen. It also has a metal backing so it feels more premium, and also has buttons and an asymmetric design that makes it easier for one-handed holding. Second, the Oasis allows you to set the color temperature. That means at night you can choose a warmer color temperature rather than the colder bluer light on the Paperwhite. It's a small thing, but for those trying to optimize their sleep and minimize the negative effects of blue light on melatonin secretion, it may be relevant. They both use micro-USB, they both allow you to read books, and they're overall more similar than different. Overall, if I was a student or strapped for cash, I would get a Paperwhite. In fact my first Paperwhite I bought used on Craigslist. For those that read a lot or want a marginally better experience, go for the Oasis.
