Today, we're going to take a look at the Kodiak Dacromet finished disc brake axle set, with 11 inch rotors, eight on 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern for Dexter and Lippert 10,000 pound leaf spring axles. Now these brake assemblies will make it very easy to change from an idler axle to a disc brake axle. Disc brakes will deliver better performance than drum brakes, and it'll give you more consistent stopping even at highway speeds. Gives you dramatically shorter stopping distances, and also the maintenance costs are lower than for drum brakes, because you'll have fewer moving parts to maintain, repair, and replace.These are a slip-on, cast iron over the hub rotor. They fit over idler hubs and are held in place by the included bolts. The rotor spacer's right here, which I've just set in the rotor, give you an idea where they go. These rotor spacers will ensure proper positioning, and on the rotor itself, if you look, they are vented, so it prevents heat-related damage with that vented design, so that effectively dissipates the heat. All these parts have a nice Dacromet finish on them, the rotors, the spacers, the calipers, the brackets, so it provides nice superior corrosion resistance for freshwater or saltwater use.The calipers themselves, they're cast iron. They are self adjusting for smooth equal braking. The cast iron construction does not flex like aluminum, and it's a low drag design, so it retracts the piston further than any other caliper, for a cooler running brake. Just to turn this around, and pop off the brake pads so you can see they're stainless steel pistons. They're 3-3/8 inches in diameter. They give you more braking torque than the competition, and you can see they come with the high performance ceramic brake pads. Snap that back in there.Now the mounting brackets, the ductile iron mounting brackets provide strength and durability. They are a side support design, so it ensures that the load is placed on the whole bracket, not just the bolts. They do use extra embossing for additional thread contact, ensures tight secure mounting for your caliper guide bolts. And if you notice, it is for a seven bolt brake flange mounting configuration.Now this kit does include everything laid out here on the table. It includes two brake assemblies, so you get two Dacromet cast iron rotors. Right here, your two rotors. You get the two Dacromet-plated rotor spacers with the hardware to install them, two Dacromet-plated cast iron calipers, four stainless steel bolts, two for each caliper, and then the two Dacromet-plated ductile iron caliper mounting brackets. Now a hydraulic brake actuator and brake lines are required for your brakes to be activated. We do sell those separately on our website. It does require a PSI rating of at least 1,500 PSI on the brake lines and brake actuator.Few specs on this, again, it's designed to fit Dexter and Lippert 10,000 pound leaf spring general duty axles, before July of 2009, with the number 99 spindle. The wheel size is 16 inch dual wheels. Bolt pattern is an eight on 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern. Wheel bolt diameter is 5/8 of an inch. Rotor diameter is 11 inches. And again, we mentioned the brake flange configuration this bolts to is seven bolts.
