In this video, we demonstrate a professional paint correction technique on a Porsche 997 Turbo. Please bear with us as one hand is holding the camera! We'll address issues such as sagging paint and orange peel, achieving a flat finish typically seen on show cars or luxury brands like Rolls-Royce and Bentley. We begin by thoroughly cleaning the panel. Using a metal file, we carefully grind down approximately 80% of the sag in the clear coat, maintaining a flat surface. Next, we employ a tungsten block to refine the finish by another 10-15%. For the final 5%, we wet sand with a hard block, starting at 800 grit and progressing through 1200, 1500, and 2000 grit, gradually expanding the area with each pass. We then finish with 3000 and 5000 grit using 3M Trizact pads, preparing the surface for buffing and polishing with a rotary machine and closed-cell foam pads. We allow the compound to work effectively, ensuring optimal results during the final steps. Finally, the surface is ready for sealing with a high-quality paint protection coating or film. This process is a standard practice for any skilled mid to high-end spray painter.
