Mobility Cane vs. ID Cane: What is the difference, why it matters, and where it came from.

A mobility cane is used for detecting and determining a safe path forward, and an ID cane is used by a person who is visually impaired, remains a mostly visual traveler, and users a lighter smaller cane to identify as legally blind in certain situations. For example, on a crowded train platform, it might be advantegeous to us and ID cane if your vision impairment makes it difficult to monitor the area around you as you might with you peripheral vision. Using the ID cane allows users to identify as blind when and where they choose. However, you can't really use an ID cane for a Mobility cane because it would be too susceptible to getting bent out of shape or broken.
