What does it take to WIN a GranFondo!? - Les Trois Ballons 2022

How hard is it to Win a Granfondo? Or even just stay with the first group? In this race I threw all my usual pacing strategy out the window and went FULL GAS uphill with the first group to see if I'd be able to keep up. At the time of this race my estimated FTP was about 385w at 82kg. I can push a lot of power but I'm a big guy so definitely in a disadvantage on the steeper climbs. This Granfondo is called Les Trois Ballons. It's in the Vosges in France, an area also featured in the Tour de France. The race is one of the bigger granfondo races in Europe by the same organisation of ''La Marmotte'', a race I did in 2017&2017. Les 3 Ballons goes over 6 cilmbs adding up to 4000m+ of elevation in 178km, so it's a big one.
