Kanheri caves lies in the heart of green lungs of Mumbai in Borivali or Sanjay Gandhi national park (SGNP). These are Buddhist caves comprising of 109 caves which is 7km inside of Borivali National Park main gates. The National park are closed on Mondays. Kanheri caves or Krishnagiri caves are 1st century old caves. Also these areas are highly leopard active zone. Drones are strictly prohibited due to Airforce area. Also these mountains are the source of Dahisar river and Kanheri river which flows through front of these caves is one of its tributary.
