JOSEPH PARKER KNOCKS OUT FRANCOIS BOTHA IN 6TH PRO FIGHT | PARKER vs BOTHA

13th June 2013 - Trusts Arena, Auckland, NZ Joseph Parker (5-0) vs Francois Botha (48-9-3) Parker win TKO round 2 *Something to note regarding why and how Botha and Parker had this matchup. In Botha's previous fight before Joseph, Botha boxed against a very well known New Zealand celebrity/rugby player known as "Sonny Bill Williams". 'Sonny Bill' prior to his fight with Botha, had been boxing beneficaries and cherry picked opponents on PPV and filling arena's in NZ and AUS with fans. The fight between 'Sonny Bill' Williams and Francois Botha was scheduled for "12 rounds of championship boxing". Early in the bout, Sonny Bill was agile and kept his distance but in later rounds Sonny Bill was gassing out and toward the end of the 10th round, Botha nearly finished Sonny Bill. Then disgracefully it was announced before the beginning of the scheduled 11th round. THE FIGHT WAS FINISHED - IT WAS NOW ONLY GOING TO BE A 10 ROUND FIGHT!!?! Absolute Farce, the TAB betting agency proceeded to refuse to give odds on any of Sonny Bill Williams fights ever again. All this led to Botha being rather well known in NZ and therefore talk of New Zealands next heavyweight prospect Joseph Parker (who was only 5-0 at this time in his career) facing Francios Botha followed. Another detail to note is Joseph Parker split away from his financial backer and mentor Sir Bob Parker prior to his fight with Botha. Disagreements regarding Botha being too much of a step up at this early stage in Parkers career resulted in a split.
