The Italian Renaissance is typically characterized as secular and individualistic, while the Northern Renaissance is seen as more Christian and socially-oriented. As all historical claims must be supported by evidence, I use Machiavelli's The Prince and Thomas More's Utopia to contrast the two Renaissance movements. And don't forget to note what they have in common! Although the Italian Humanists and Northern Humanists differed in their approach and philosophy, they were all inspired by humanistic (classical) studies. With this approach, you should be set up to score at least half the points on your AP Euro LEQ (Long Essay Question) if not more!
