The recent announcement of the patent infringement lawsuit issued by Nintendo and The Pokemon Company against Pocket Pain, the creators of the recent critically and heavily debated hit game Palworld, has shaken the entire gaming community. However the reaction to this news is quite different between the western and japanese community. In this video we will take a look at some reactions from Japanese netizens, take a quick look into the history and workings of gaming patent law in Japan, and briefly discuss what could be some of the causes of such varying opinions between the two communities.
