In this episode of The Cure Chronicles, musician, certified meditation teacher, and HIV activist Jamar Rogers joins the show! Jamar has competed on two major singing shows: American Idol and The Voice. While on The Voice in 2012, Jamar courageously disclosed his HIV-Positive status to the world, and on this episode of The Cure Chronicles he discusses how the stigma around HIV has changed since then. These appearances have sparked Jamar’s music career, as he has since signed to a record label, toured, and released music. Jamar has also incorporated his music into his meditation practices, which he uses to help improve his health and heal from past traumas. He currently volunteers at The Meantime Men’s Group, where he helps people living with HIV find work and housing. Jamar also works with God’s Love We Deliver and The Lower East Side Girls’s Club. He continues to help fight against the stigma behind HIV and the discrimination that it causes, particularly to those in the LGBTQ+ community.
