Is a boring life easy? With The Police, and especially Sting in fact, persisting in their refusal (or rather fear, I think) to make that new material that everyone is really waiting for, we - the loyal fans - have to get that job done! So take a moment for this altered, extended en deranged version of ‘Darkness’! Darkness is probably one of Stewarts best songs in my opinion, and recorded by The Police in 1981 at Air Studios in Montserrat. I love how the original slowly enchants you. But wasn't that really too short? That's why I made this extended version, in which quite a few changes have been made. You will probably notice the guitar parts the most, with even a relaxed jazzy excursion halfway through, but Stewart also introduces some variations every now and then. All in all, I'm very happy with the end result. But I'm more curious to know what you think about it. Hope you enjoy it. If you do, please leave a short message. In an attempt to capture the spirit of the era, I mainly used images and fragments from the Montserrat period. All image fragments used circulate on the internet. In the end this all is for a much greater cause. If our protagonist(s) will ever read this: come on guys, and especially mister Sting, the years are starting to count seriously, so surprise the world, break the myth about The Police as a closed legend, visit your old friends, and do what lots worldwide don't expect, but are really waiting for: MAKE THAT DAMN SIXTH POLICE ALBUM!
