I had no idea why I started this project and no clue where it would end up. Many years ago I found myself running a beautiful stretch of beach inside Fort Wooden State Park (the actual beach shown 8 seconds into this video), and as I was running a pod of harbor porpoises decided to join my just yards off shore. I had no idea the species, nor did I care, but I raced the pod for the longest time and the result was a fascination with them ever since. I posted my progress on this build to our local Nextdoor site, and being the new guy in town, I did not expect much interest from neighbors. Man, was I wrong! My posts of the project were the highest "liked" in the community, and word spread to our local marine science center of the guy building a porpoise in his garage. A few messages and an invite later and we'd found the perfect home in the Port Townsend Marine Science Center in Fort Worden. It seems that life comes full-circle from time to time, right? Port Townsend Marine Science Center: https://ptmsc.org The project was a blast from start to finish, and sharing it with my kids, my science geek wife, and our new neighbors has been a great experience. The fact it now resides for all to see in the current (and future expanded) Port Townsend Marines Science Center is an incredibly rewarding result. I hope you enjoyed the build and please consider subscribing for more videos like this!
