The Kebble Banshee: A Rathlin Island Story

Rathlin Island is a special place on the Irish North Coast that seems to have completely evaded the hustle and bustle of the modern world. Old values and ways of life are preserved there as the island is steeped in ancient folklore. For instance on the western end, it is rumoured that a terrifying banshee (bean sídhe) haunts a little stone cottage in the townland of Kebble. And while this could just be the cries of a seabird, if you go for a wander around the cottage at night then you might be frightened enough to think that there is some truth to this rumour! Or who knows maybe you're braver than me, I'd say that's probably quite likely. Anyway here is another story for you all, I hope you enjoy it! P.S. I'll try to make the next one a little bit less depressing, although the wonderful world of Irish mythology doesn't seem to do happy stories an awful lot.
