Mera Peak Trek (10 days) | One of Nepal's Highest Trekking Peak! 6,474 meters | May 2022

In early May 2022, Khadak and I, along with our guide Dafuri Sherpa, did the Mera Peak trek in Nepal to climb Nepal's highest trekking peak, and the highest elevation we had ever reached at 6,474 meters (21, 247 feet). Despite a daily dose of either rain, snow or clouds, we loved every day of this trek and in fact enjoyed the variety of weather we got. It was a beautiful, rewarding journey through the diverse landscapes of Makalu Barun National Park (so much rhododendron!), north through Hinku Valley along the gorgeous Hinku River, and up to the top of Mera Peak, with spectacular mountain views (even amongst the clouds!) all along the way. From Mera Peak alone, you get amazing views of Sagarmatha (Mount Everest), Cho Oyu, Makalu, Lhotse, and even Kanchenjunga in the distance. We followed this itinerary: 0:00 Intro 1:32 Day 1: Lukla to Chatanga 4:32 Day 2: Chatanga to Thuli Kharka 7:11 Day 3: Thuli Kharka to Kothe 9:54 Day 4: Kothe to Thagnak 12:18 Day 5: Thagnak to Khare 15:04 Day 6: Rest/Training Day in Khare 18:20 Day 7: Khare to High Camp 23:34 Day 8: Mera Peak! 27:53 Day 9: Thagnak to Thuli Kharka 31:12 Day 10: Thuli Kharka to Lukla 32:53 Day 11: Back to Kathmandu! 34:15 Thank you! **Because we had all recently done treks, it was possible to go straight up to Chakra La Pass (4600m) on Day 2. If you hadn't already acclimitized, you might take a few extra days to reach the pass. FYI! This is considered a trekking peak because little technical work is needed in the climb. We are not mountaineers by any means, and I am definitely not one for treacherous, dangerous adventures. This was not that at all! I felt very secure the whole time, apart from a brief moment of nerves hopping over a crevice, but we were always completely safe, either linked together with a safety line or attached to fixed lines in the few sketchy places. Highly recommend this challenging, but truly beautiful and rewarding trek :) -- Lots of Music Credit! https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/E... https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/D... https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/B... https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/U... https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/1... https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/s... https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/S... https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/6... https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/R... https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/O... https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/4... https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/v... https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/4... https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/j... https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/q... https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/a... https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/C... https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/j... https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/N... https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/y... https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/l... https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/8... https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/Y... https://www.epidemicsound.com/track/x... #NepalTrek #TrekkinginNepal #MeraPeak #TrekkingPeak
