My First Renaissance Faire ft. Morgan Donner & Abby Cox: I made an 18th c Waistcoat!

Thank you Birch for sponsoring! Visit http://birchliving.com/nicolerudolph to get $400 off your Birch mattress, plus two free pillows. What does one do when they are ready for adventure? Build an 18th c waistcoat apparently. And then fly to Indiana? That doesn't seem right. Well, all that you really need for an adventure is to find yourself somewhere new. And it doesn't hurt to do it with a few friends! I've never made it to a Ren Faire in all of my years in the field of costuming, but I was determined to change that this year! So I joined up with ‪@AbbyCox‬, ‪@MorganDonner‬, Maggie, and Albert to head to the first Southern Indiana Renaissance Faire. It's not a grand event as it's only in it's first year, but we were impressed by how well attended it was! And by the unexpected castle in the middle of a field. But before we get to the big day, there are a few things I needed to acquire! First, I knew that I needed at least one new piece for my wardrobe. Most of what I have that would do for warmer weather is light, bright, and cottagecore. And I wasn't quite in the mood for that at the moment. So pirate waistcoat it was! That's really the main point of this video: making an early 18th century waistcoat. But, with one catch. Instead of my usual lengthy handsewing, I did all of this work (or nearly all of it) by machine. When time is more important than accuracy I have no problem turning to modern methods. In addition to the waistcoat, I did make a shirt and leather pouch. Beyond that, the items were sourced from a few different places. Camera harness: https://roseanvil.com/collections/cam...
