I NEVER expected to find one of these in Japan available for export. I feel bad taking something like this out of the Japanese arcade circuit, but it is what it is; a lot of places are closing, and there just isn't a place for a lot of games anymore. I got this one as a replacement to my current FightingMania cab, which is the Korean version/cabinet for the same game. It is falling apart, LITERALLY, in that the whole cabinet is sagging into the base. As such, it is no longer safe for transit or operation, at least until the entire cabinet can be rebuilt. I wasn't even comfortable moving it out of the garage along with the rest of the cabs when we did our warehouse move. In comparison to the Korean cab, this one is built more solid, and the shelving inside the cab better structured. They may share the same or near same shape, but the build quality is just better. This one has had a life, as you can tell from the condition of the pads, but I will be doing some replacement of those parts. The Japanese cab also has the segment display on the topper, which the Korean cab does not. This cabinet has an LCD in place of the CRT; I'm still undetermined whether I'll get a CRT back in there or not, or just do a better LCD mod. For this game, it doesn't really harm gameplay, so I'd honestly have little qualms about running an LCD in this cab. My main concern, and the reason I tested this cab before allowing it to go to any shows (a few happened between it arriving and this video) was the upkeep required to keep the pads in good working shape. With my Korean cab, I spent entire conventions babying the cab in order to keep it available. It's a lot of work, especially if there are wiring and alignment problems due to broken parts or chopped wire, which my Korean cab had. Everything seems to be fine, though some punches felt like they just didn't register, so there might need to be some POT adjustment. All in all, it's not really that bad, though. I noticed there were some extra parts, I think POTs? But they aren't the same as the one in the Korean cab, so I think I'll have some fun trying to figure out differences there as well. Looking forward to having this back on the convention list again! It is a popular game, and one that I particularly love as well. It means a lot to me to have it available as an option for those who'd want to play it :)
