Weighing In

We finally got some much-needed rain over the weekend and finishing today, Tuesday with about 1.6 inches. It was just what we needed to get the interseeded pasture seeds to germinate and start growing. I finally took a rainy afternoon and assembled our new livestock scales. We ordered it and received it back in January of this year. We had to prepare the cement pad in the run-in shed before we could get it put together. Finally, accomplished that this past weekend. Our new hay feeders needed a modification to keep the sheep and goats from knocking them over. They would rub on them or try to walk under them and would end up knocking them on their side. The base support on each end was only 4" wide, too narrow to prevent tipping. We removed the 4" pipe and substituted a 10" piece of PVC pipe. It has prevented tipping however the PVC slide a bit so we will secure them with bolts to prevent this. They have a good start on the final grading around our new home and, if they stay on schedule we will be moving in about 4 weeks (Yikes!!!). We are really looking forward to getting moved and settled in at Norwal Farm. Thank you for joining us!
