This video shows you how I replaced the timing belt and the oil seal of VVT camshaft on my Volvo S40 2.4L. It also shows how I used some homemade tools that I fabricated years ago when I replaced the timing belt and the oil seal for the first time. Two models of belt tensioners were installed separately on a spare engine to see the difference between the procedures. Note: Follow the required maintenance about the timing belt, the idler pulley and the tensioner that is written in the Volvo `Warranty and Service Records Information` book, section `Maintenance Service Operation`. I checked my tensioner bearing, my idler pulley bearing, and my water pump bearing and I am confident they will last at least 2 more years since now I only use this vehicle once or twice a week. If the flexpipe can easily be undone from the exhaust manifold, it is a good opportunity to prevent the flexpipe from getting damaged when the engine is lowered or raised. The right engine mount could have been replaced but it was not a priority when I was filming this video.
