On March 27th, 2020, Stockton Firefighters responded to a structure fire in the 2400 block of Douglas Road. Engine 7 arrived on scene reporting heavy fire from a single story, flat top with exposures threatened on the B and D sides. The four Engines on the first alarm were able to deploy an 1 3/4 attack line, two exposure lines, and a 2 1/2 attack line in a matter of minutes and knock down the blaze. Crews were able to protect the two exposures and save of much of the structure as possible. Truck 4 arrived and committed to a Vent-Enter-Search operation to the rear two bedroom windows. This operation requires entering the structure without the protection of a hose line. A VES is implemented to provide search and rescue for any citizens that may be trapped by fire in the structure. In a 'Risk vs Gain' analysis, the opportunity to save life outweighs the danger of firefighters entering the structure. We thank you for your views, support, feedback, and comments.
