Living room sundial

In close cooperation with our customer, Dr.-Ing. Jorgen von der Brelie, an extraordinary sundial has been developed, which displays the precise time and date in the living room of his house all year round. The client had his house built especially in an east-west direction with regard to the future sundial. A specially installed pinhole aperture in the roof of the house projects a point of light onto the living room wall, which extends up to the roof. The sundial shows both, the true solar time of Lüneburg and 12 noon Central European Time (CET) and the date. 12 noon CET corresponds to mean noon on the time zone meridian in Görlitz (15° E), represented by the equation of time curve, also called analemma. This resembles an elongated figure of eight and consists of a branch for the ascending sun (winter/spring) and a branch for the descending sun (summer/autumn).
