This is a story about Gypsy Blanchard and her mother Dee Dee Blanchard. Dee Dee Blanchard had Munchausen syndrome by proxy, which is a mental illness where someone makes up or exaggerates illnesses in another person, usually their child. Dee Dee convinced Gypsy from a young age that she was sick and Gypsy used a wheelchair, feeding tube and other medical devices throughout her childhood. Gypsy escaps her mom in 2012. In 2015, Gypsy met Nicholas Godejohn online and together they killed Dee Dee Blanchard. Nicholas Godejohn was sentenced to life in prison and Gypsy Blanchard was sentenced to 10 years for manslaughter.
