FEATURED WATCH Rolex GMT Master II ref. 126719 Meteorite Dial At its very core, the ref. 126719BLRO is a white gold Pepsi GMT Master II featuring the famous red and blue two-tone ceramic Pepsi bezel for an additional time zone, a dedicated arrow hand on the dial, and a lustrous 18k white gold finish. The current-production Rolex also features long-lasting Chromalight hour markers and hands, a 40mm waterproof Oyster case sealed via Rolex’s innovative Triplock screw-down crown, and the caliber 3285 Perpetual movement with a 70-hour power reserve. The caliber 3285 is outfitted with every Rolex watchmaking innovation available to the GMT Master II, including a more efficient Chronergy escapement, a paramagnetic blue Parachrom hairspring, and Paraflex shock absorbers. It is accurate up to +2/-2 seconds per day and features an independent GMT hand and a convenient Quickset date. What sets it apart from other Rolex GMT watches is, of course, that mesmerizing Rolex meteorite dial. The configuration we unboxed this week was released in 2019, hot on the heels of the first stainless steel GMT Master II to sport a ceramic Pepsi bezel, which debuted the previous year. It was an exciting time for the beloved GMT, marked by newsworthy upgrades. The Rolex Meteorite GMT took an already exclusive Rolex into the stratosphere of watch collecting by outfitting it with a genuine slice of meteorite. Rolex doesn’t provide much information on these special dials. Still, it is widely believed they are sourced from a slice of the Gibeon meteorite in the Namibian desert near the town of Gibeon. Watch companies source meteorites from different locations around the globe, but the Gibeon meteorite is believed to produce the most attractive Widmanstätten patterns. Where do these meteorites come from? Most probably originated from either an asteroid or planetary core and then traveled millions of years through the cold vacuum of space. During its journey to the blue marble we call home, its molten core cooled, forming ribbons of crystalized iron and nickel called Widmanstätten patterns. Slices from the meteorite are treated with an acid wash to bring out the crystalized pattern you see on the Rolex GMT meteorite for sale in our catalog. It has a mesmerizing silver sheen that nicely complements the white gold finish. The dial is then decorated with white gold hands and hour markers filled with Chromalight. As of 2024, ref. 126719BLRO is the only GMT Master II to sport a meteorite dial. The 126719 Rolex meteorite dial price is $44,600 retail and approximately $42,500 pre-owned.
