A redefinition of Expert and Expertise for the next decade Academia has created a long standing hierarchy of distinguished, accomplished and published individuals who are locked in traditional checklists of credibility. This has maintained stability in the past. However, with rapid change being the new normal... the educated, degreed or learned seem incapacitated unless they adopt the posture of continuous learning with the intention of reinventing themselves with an entrepreneurial mindset that is pivotal for relevance and more meaningful contribution to society. We draw attention to the current trend that has gained global momentum: Re-education of Educated adults. This is indeed the time for adult education and in this current trend, it is imperative that learning how to learn be prioritised. We cannot, in good conscience, discard the experience of yesterday’s experts but we must introduce new and compelling alternatives that prioritise up-skilling and life-long learning. This offers mutual benefit and opportunity to both the givers (those who provide the necessary training) and receivers (those who need to up-skill).
