The PoE technology allows us to use a single Ethernet cable to send both power and data to edge devices such as PoE IP cameras, PoE access points, and PoE VoIP phones. Actually, there is more know-how about PoE. There is power handshaking in standard PoE. The POE Switch or injector will verify and classify your edge device. If your device doesn’t support PoE, the PoE injector will not release the power, just providing the data. However, the passive PoE removes the power handshaking. The PoE Injector will inject the power into the Ethernet cable and send it to the edge as well as the data. You might need a PoE splitter if your edge device doesn’t support PoE. The PoE splitter split the power from data and regulates it to DC12V or DC5V. The 90W PoE++ is the high power solution which employs all 4 twisted pairs to send the power.
