Hashim ibn Abd Manaf The Second Grandfather of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the progenator of Hashim clan of Quraysh tribe in Makkah Born 464 in Makkah Died 497 (32-33 ys. ) in Gaza/ Palastine. His father was 'Abd Manaf ibn Qusai ibn Kilab ibn Murrah. His mother was Atikah bint Murrah ibn Hilal.  “Atikah bint Murrah al-Hulaliyya Hashim Ibn Abd manafhad two full brothers Abd Shams ibn Abd Manaf Muttalib ibn Abd Manaf and one half-brother whose mother was Waqida bint Amr. Hashim was born with one of his toes pressed into Abd Shams forehead. Hashim ibn Abd Manaf was held in much honour, both at home and abroad. • It was Hashim who first realized the potential for his family of taking part in the lucrative trade between Syria and Egypt that passed through Arabia. Trading was the most important means of livelihood for the inhabitants of Mecca, Mecca is a barren 'valley without cultivation'. • Trade in Makkah was semi-local during the era of Qussay and his sons until Hashem came to them with the Elaf. Ibn Abbas said that Quraysh were experiencing the severity of hunger and poverty in some years and some may die of starvation without asking anyone It was said: They were when they were very hungry, the man would take his wife and his children and went to a well-known place where they would hide until they died, one by one, without asking anyone • اعتفادis suicide to get rid of the pain of hunger
