NJ Road Trip #12 - River Train (Inaugural Phillipsburg to Riegelsville Excursion)

6 May 2023 - I rode the "River Train" put on by the Delaware River Railroad Excursions on the inaugural ride bringing passenger service from Phillipsburg to Riegelsville for the first time since 1960. Heading the train of 4 Susquehanna coaches is Black River & Western #811. This locomotive moves around a bit and is currently pulling the River Train while the Chinese-built steam engine #142 is out of service for long-term maintenance. 811 is a beautifully kept GP-9 that has Nickel Plate Road heritage. The train ride is the highlight of this video, although briefly I'll show parts of the free bridge river crossing and the restoration work going on to completely rebuild the New Jersey side's Riegelsville Station.
