The Lady Is A Tramp - Extended Audio - Lena Horne, Words and Music 1948

Here is Lena Horne's uncut audio (the footage is lost) for "The Lady Is a Tramp" in "Words and Music". The third verse was deleted (wisely, I think) - it made some odd lyric substitutions: "For Robert Taylor, I whistle and stamp" was changed to "When I hear Crosby" - a slap in the face to Taylor, who was still a major star at the time. "Tell Lizzie Arden to leave me alone" was switched to "Those bodybuilders can leave me alone" - once again, odd since Elizabeth Arden was (and still is) a major brand. Finally, "The food at Sardi's" becomes "The food at Rector's" - did MGM have something against the former? Kudos to Lena for singing three choruses, unlike Sinatra - who made this one of his signature songs but refused to learn anything but the first one!
