Nashville Tuning or High Strung Tuning | Is There a Difference?

Hey Everyone! I was recently having a conversation with another guitar player about using "Nashville Tuning" on a song, and we got into a discussion about this interesting little studio tool/technique. This video might be a bit controversial, because many people do not differentiate between Nashville tuning and high strung tuning at all (including Wikipedia and the packaging on the strings used in this video's thumbnail!). However, there are some folks out there who do differentiate between the two tunings, and it turns out there's a fairly practical reason for doing so! For those of you who are new to this subject, Nashville and high strung tunings both utilize the same "E-A-D-G-B-A" string arrangement, but they replace the lower strings with a thinner gauge and tune them an octave up. The reason someone might want to do this on an acoustic guitar track is to remove the "lower end," or bass frequencies from a track while still getting the full acoustic guitar effect. Also, when it comes to the critical listening portions of this video, it would most likely benefit you to wear headphones or listen to this video with studio quality monitors.
