A veteran of the San Sebastian International Film Festival (SSIFF), Bollaín presents a deeply personal project based on the true story of Nevenka Fernández. Her film recounts the groundbreaking case of the first Spanish politician, Ismael Álvarez, convicted of sexual harassment. Bollaín’s approach follows her previous success with "Maixabel", another powerful portrayal of real-life events. "Soy Nevenka" will hit Spanish cinemas on September 27th. SOY NEVENKA Set in the year 2000, "Soy Nevenka" follows the story of Nevenka Fernández, a 24-year-old Finance Councillor at the Ponferrada Town Council. She endures relentless harassment—both professional and personal—from the mayor, a man used to having his way. Despite knowing the high personal cost, Nevenka chooses to speak out, with her community and the media turning against her.
