This video presents images of the pottery excavated by Jesse Walter Fewkes during his 1895 expedition to Hopi. These images are actual paintings and drawing by M.W. Hodge which faithfully reproduce the original pottery. The original report to the Smithsonian Institution published in 1898 can be downloaded here: https://library.si.edu/digital-librar... The original volume can sometimes be found through used book stores. There is also an out of print book Prehistoric Hopi Pottery Designs by Fewkes that includes much of the information and can be easily found. Many thanks to the Hopi potters who made this amazing pottery and to those who now protect and preserve these traditions.
