Italy's Sparkle Let's talk about our very first entry to @SoapChallengeClub ever! For July 2020, Natural Stone. Many thanks to @MadMicas for sponsoring this #soapchallenge ♥️ Derived from a Greek word that means "to sparkle, flash and gleam," marble is undoubtedly one of the most luxurious materials in the world... How fitting to make a soap after the gold-streaked calacatta marble! This marble is very rare (taken from Apuan Mountains in Carrara, Italy) and is more white than gray with dramatic veining that results in thick, predominate patterns. Calacatta marble often have streaks of brown and gold undertones. We used our base recipe and chose not to use fragrance in hope of avoiding any unwanted issues! We used a mica drizzle (1 part gold mica to 2 parts olive oil) and 7% of the batter was colored with activated charcoal and Titanium Dioxide. Using small funnel pitchers to pour thin streams of batter, we rotated the grey, white base, and mica drizzle in no particular order or direction. After the cut and some time, the soap was planed to reveal the beautiful gold calacatta look! I hope you'll love this soap as much as I do!
